Natural Dye Workshop with Nicole Lamarche

Join international natural dye artist, theatre costume designer and sustainable fashion expert Nicole Lamarche for an inspiring Natural Dye workshop at Blackheath Community Farm. Nicole, who is based in Avignon France, has been known as the ‘Godmother of natural dye’ for over 30 years.

On the day we will forage together and learn to identify and harvest local plants, flowers and materials to use for natural dyes. Nicole will teach us different methods for extracting colour from plants as well as different techniques for applying and fixing natural dye onto textiles. You will also learn what types of textiles to use and how to prepare them.

You will take home:

  • One cotton colour swatch
  • One large print and draw cotton piece
  • One long 100% silk steam dye piece
  • One small piece of 100% wool

Tickets cost $80 and include all materials. Please bring lunch to enjoy in the beautiful surrounds of the community farm during lunch break.

The Blue Mountains Zine Fair

Visiting the Blue Mountains Zine Fair was exhilarating! On Saturday 29th March it was a grey wet day in Katoomba, but from the moment we stepped out of the lift at the Cultural Centre, we felt as though we’d been hit by an explosion of creativity, warmth, joy and proof that ‘the resistance’ to the destructive forces at play in our world is alive, well and spreading infectiously.
