Katoomba Spring Equinox Festival

It’s Spring Equinox – and we’re celebrating with a festive street party in Katoomba! 

On Saturday 27 September from 12noon to 7pm, the lower half of Katoomba Street will be in full bloom – transformed by live music, dance and creative activities.

The lower half of Katoomba Street will be temporarily closed to traffic, inviting locals and visitors in to enjoy the festive atmosphere and explore the amazing mix of eclectic local businesses, cafes, and crafts.

1:00 PM   Official Welcome

2:00 PM   Richard Long
Longy ~ Songs with Stories as the title implies, Longy is a singer/songwriter performing original songs that tell life stories to great tunes. He compliments these with an utterly unique approach to covers where he manages to revive or reimagine songs that you’d forgotten that you love.

3:00 PM   Ashleigh Long
Ashleigh Long is a young local vocalist with a powerful voice that will captivate you as she presents a diverse range of songs and genres in a style that will have you craving for more.

4:00 PM   Clint Benge
Plays mostly Latin American and Spanish music for classical guitar, along with a few more popular songs played in the same style.

5:00 PM   Fretbuzz
The swampiest noire folk roots combo this side of Sydney. They play a mix of songs both original and reinterpreted, mostly about the seedier side of life, but with love and reverence. Features Frank Corby on vocal and guitar, Pam Allen on  vocal and percussion, Leigh Birkett on guitar and vocal and Adam Florence on bass and distillery.

6:00 PM   CBRB

CBRB (formerly known as the Coogee Bay Road Band) are a busy, polished outfit, and we know you will be impressed. They plan to KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF, so don’t miss this closing set.

1:30 PM   The Brendan O’Reilly Band

Fresh alternative pop with soaring melodies, driving rhythms, and poetic lyrics.  blends heartfelt songwriting with dynamic alt-pop energy. – melodic, rhythmic, and poetic alternative pop that’s making waves live.

2:30 PM   Devious Charmers
Devious Charmers are a four piece indie rock band from the upper Blue Mountains. Recently D.C have released their full length debut album titled ‘Carro Lawn Hangs’. D.C sound similar to the Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Velvet Underground. Come along and have a dance!

3:30 PM   Pete Francis
Pete Francis style is Solo completely improvised, called songs you’ve never heard of and probably never hear again.

4:30 PM   Christian Bischoff

Christian Bischoff, a versatile performer and entertainer, won Young Entertainer of the Year in 1985 and has since graced stages worldwide, including New York’s Madison Square Garden and aboard the QE2. His career spans cabaret, television, film, and theatre, with notable roles such as in “Ladies in Black,” alongside a celebrated background in broadcasting and voice-over work.

Egg Malt is an Original nostalgic rock 5 piece that conjures echos of the 70s and 90s.

Be part of creating a vibrant atmosphere by dressing-up in festive Spring attire.

Please note there won’t be a parade at this event. We are encouraging visitors to attend in their costumes at any time of the day.
